With scant attention to maintenance, Grand Central Terminal deteriorated from the 1960s to 1980s. This clock, despite cracks and holes (possibly caused by a bullet) remained in service until the terminal began renovations in the 1980s…a far cry from the care with which the elegant building had been crafted.
Don’t miss Grand by Design: A Centennial Celebration of Grand Central Terminal, open for only one more day! On view from 8am - 3pm Friday, March 15th in Vanderbilt Hall.
